Life-long caloric restriction: Effect on age-related changes in motoneuron numbers, sizes and apoptotic markers

? The overall number of lumbar motoneurons does not decrease with age. ? No preferential loss of motoneurons based on size occurs with age. ? Old motoneurons die via apoptosis in a caspase-dependent manner. ? Caloric restriction down-regulates Hsp27, OGG1 and cytochrome c in old motoneurons.

Mitochondrial peroxiredoxins are critical for the maintenance of redox state and the survival of adult Drosophila
