High-throughput determination of malondialdehyde in plant tissues

Malondialdehyde (MDA) is a widely used marker of oxidative lipid injury whose concentration varies in response to biotic and abiotic stress. Commonly, MDA is quantified as a strong light-absorbing and fluorescing adduct following reaction with thiobarbituric acid (TBA).

Evaluation of antioxidant and anti-initiating activities of crude polyphenolic extracts from seedless and seeded Indian grapes

The extracts of crude polyphenols (seeds, pulp+skin, whole) from four different cultivars of Indian grapes were used in this study. The total polyphenolic contents of grape polyphenolic extracts (GPEs) were determined and their in vitro antioxidant and anti-initiating activities evaluated.

Identification of Radical Adducts Formed in the Reactions of Unsaturated Fatty Acids with Soybean Lipoxygenase Using Continuous Flow Fast Atom Bombardment with Tandem Mass Spectrometry

Structures of ?-(4-pyridyl-1-oxide)-N-tert-butylnitrone (4-POBN) radical adducts formed in the reactions of soybean lipoxygenase with linoleic acid, linolenic acid, and arachidonic acid were determined using continuous flow fast atom bombardment (CF-FAB) combined with tandem mass spectrometry.

Identification of a radical formed in the reaction mixture of rat brain homogenate with a ferrous ion/ascorbic acid system using HPLC-EPR and HPLC-EPR-MS

EPR measurements of the reaction mixtures showed prominent signals with hyperfine coupling constants (?N = 1.58 mT and ?H? = 0.26 mT). No EPR spectrum was detectable without rat brain homogenate, suggesting that the radical is derived from rat brain homogenate.

Free malondialdehyde determination by HPLC applied to microsomal studies

Malondialdehyde (MDA) is a product of lipid peroxidation in vivo. The most widely employed method for determination of free MDA is based on its reaction with thiobarbituric acid (TBA) which produces a pink pigment with an absorption maximum at 532-535 nm.
