AbstractThe reactions of P4S3 with As4S3 and of P4Se3 with As4Se3 in the molten state yields molecules of the type PmAs4–mS3 and PmAs4–mSe3, respectively. A method was developed to separate the different components by the HPLC technique, and to determine their concentrations.

Theβ-subunit of human chorionic gonadotropin containsN-glycosidic trisialo tri- and tri′-antennary carbohydrate chains

AbstractTheN-linked carbohydrate chains of the-subunit of highly purified urinary human chorionic gonadotropin have been re-investigated. The oligosaccharides were released enzymatically by peptide-N4-(N-acetyl--glucosaminyl)asparagine amidase-F, and fractionated by a combination of FPLC and HPLC.

The simultaneous determination of muramic acid and glucosamine in soil by high-performance liquid chromatography with precolumn fluorescence derivatization

Derivatization of the fluorogenic reagent o-phthalaldehyde, in the presence of 2-mercaptoethanol with the residue of a soil hydrolysate, was achieved by optimizing the relative amounts of o-phthalaldehyde to hydrolysate in the reaction mixture, the pH of both, and the incubation period.

Serum bilirubin subfractions in patients with alcohol abuse during detoxication

Sera were obtained from 41 alcohol abusers consecutively admitted for detoxication. Blood samples were withdrawn on the second, fourth and seventh days of abstention. Initial bilirubin values were moderately elevated in 10 patients.

Several methods for creatinine have been examined by the subcommittee on reference method for creatinine. These include the use of picric acid to precipitate proteins followed by alkalization, or the use of alkaline picrate after protein precipitation and adsorption to Fuller's earth.
