Luminescent mesoporous colloidal silica: A nanoporous substrate for photosensitization of lanthanide ions

Nearly monodisperse, mesoporous, colloidal silica spheres were treated with aminopropyltriethoxysilane and subsequently calcined to generate luminescent mesoporous colloidal silica (LMCS), with broad bimodal visible emission and high surface areas exceeding 700m2/g.

Controlled spatial distribution of tris(2,2′-bipyridine)ruthenium cation ([Ru(bpy)3]2+) in aluminum containing mesoporous silicas

The adsorption of tris(2,2?-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) ([Ru(bpy)3]2+) onto aluminum containing mesoporous silicas (BJH pore size of 2.2 and 3.0nm and Si/Al ratio of ca. 26) was conducted and the photoluminescence of the products was examined as a function of the loaded [Ru(bpy)3]2+ amounts.

Luminescent SiO2-coated Gd2O3:Eu3+ nanorods/poly(styrene) nanocomposites by in situ polymerization

Europium doped gadolinium oxide nanorods have been coated with silica via a sol?gel approach. The silica coating increases the Eu3+ absolute emission quantum yields from 0.51 to 0.86 (255nm excitation) and decay times from 1.43 to 1.80ms (394.4nm excitation).

Intense visible multicolored luminescence from lanthanide ion‐pair codoped NaGdF4 nanocrystals

The nanocrystals with different codoped lanthanide ion?pairs retain their individual optical properties and the combined spectra can be detected using single?wavelength excitation at about 251?nm.

Synthesis and characterization of monodisperse spherical SiO2@RE 2O3 (RE=rare earth elements) and SiO2@Gd2O3:Ln 3+ (Ln=Eu, Tb, Dy, Sm, Er, Ho) particles with core-shell structure

Spherical SiO2 particles have been coated with rare earth oxide layers by a Pechini sol?gel process, leading to the formation of core-shell structured SiO2@RE 2O3 (RE=rare earth elements) and SiO2@Gd2O3:Ln 3+ (Ln=Eu, Tb, Dy, Sm, Er, Ho) particles.

Red emission of Eu(III) ions doped gadolinium or lanthanum tungstate entrapped in silica xerogel

The europium(III) novel phosphors were synthesised and then entrapped in silica based transparent inorganic material prepared by the sol?gel process. The photoluminescence properties of novel Eu(III) phosphors were studied by means of steady-state and time-resolved techniques.

Fabrication and photoluminescence of thin films of lanthanide–polyoxometalates grafted on colloid silica sphere

In this paper, two lanthanide?polyoxometalates Na9LnW10O36 (Ln=Eu, Dy, LnW10) were grafted on 400 nm amine-functionalized spherical Stober silica. The monolayer thin films of hybrid particles were fabricated on quartz by spin-coating method.
