Accelerated 3D catheter visualization from triplanar MR projection images

One major obstacle for MR-guided catheterizations is long acquisition times associated with visualizing interventional devices. Therefore, most techniques presented hitherto rely on single-plane imaging to visualize the catheter.

Flexible add-on solution for MR image-guided interventions in a closed-bore scanner environment Presented at the 2007 Joint Annual Meeting ISMRM-ESMRMB, Berlin, Germany.

MRI is of great clinical utility for the guidance of various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. In a standard closed-bore scanner, the simplest approach is to manipulate the instrument outside the bore and move the patient into the bore for reference and control imaging only.

novel and fast approach for passive real-time tracking of interventional devices using paramagnetic markers, termed "projection-reconstruction imaging with echo-dephasing" (PRIDE) is presented. PRIDE is based on the acquisition of echo-dephased projections along all three physical axes.
