Dietary supplementation of ω-3 fatty acid-containing fish oil suppresses F2-isoprostanes but enhances inflammatory cytokine response in a mouse model of ovalbumin-induced allergic lung inflammation

Epidemiological and clinical evidence has suggested that increased dietary intake of fish oil containing ?-3 fatty acids including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) may be associated with a reduced risk of asthma.

Protein carbonylation: 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine reacts with both aldehydes/ketones and sulfenic acids

Most of the assays for detection of carbonylated proteins, the most general and widely used marker of severe protein oxidation, involve derivatization of the carbonyl group with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH), which leads to formation of a stable dinitrophenyl hydrazone product.

Membrane inlet for mass spectrometric measurement of nitric oxide

We point out the advantages of membrane inlet mass spectrometry for the measurement of nitric oxide in aqueous solution. The membrane inlet probe was a 1.0-cm segment of Silastic tubing attached to the vacuum inlet leading to the ion source.
