Rebar corrosion in carbonated concrete exposed to variable humidity conditions. Interpretation of Tuutti’s curve

This paper deals with the modelling of the rebar corrosion kinetics in unsaturated concrete cover. The concrete is assumed carbonated resulting in an active corrosion of steel. The corrosion kinetics is coupled with the ionic transport processes.

Simulation and experimental approach to CVD-FBR aluminide coatings on ferritic steels under steam oxidation

Model of oxidation of SiC microparticles at high temperature

The results show that our new model and the calculated results can reach a good agreement. It may also be seen that the important role of particle size in oxidation of SiC powder, especially in the nano era for SiC material.

Diffusion processes determining the oxidation rate of multicomponent alloys

The duration of the selective oxidation period is a key factor determining the life time of the corrosion resistant alloys. Diffusion processes during the selective oxidation of an alloy containing a noble metal (Pt, Au) and a oxidizable metal (Ni, Cu or Zn) were theoretically analyzed by C. Wagner.

A fundamental study of Fe–Cr binary alloy–oxide film interfaces at 288°C by computational chemistry calculations

quantum chemical molecular dynamics method was used in order to understand the oxide film degradation mechanism at metal/metal?oxide interfaces. The present study shows that oxygen diffusivity in the metal is significantly higher at a Fe?Cr/Fe2O3 interface compared to a Fe?Cr/Cr2O3 interface.

Quantum chemical molecular dynamics study of stress corrosion cracking behavior for fcc Fe and Fe–Cr surfaces

Quantum chemical molecular dynamics simulation was applied to study the oxidation of bare Fe (111) and Fe?Cr (111) surfaces with strain in high temperature water. Simulation results implied the surface morphologies differ from Fe to Fe?Cr because of strong bond between oxygen and chromium atoms.
