Microstructural evolution of coating-modified 3D C/SiC composites after annealing in wet oxygen at different temperatures

Two types of coating-modified 3D C/SiC, coated with CVD SiC/SiC/SiC (type I) and CVD SiC/amorphous-BC/SiC (type II), are subjected to a 14vol.% H2O/8vol.% O2/78vol.% Ar atmosphere at 700, 1000 and 1200?C up to 100h.

Effects of water vapour on isothermal oxidation of chromia-forming alloys in Ar/O2 and Ar/H2 atmospheres

Fe9Cr, Fe17Cr and Fe25Cr alloys were subjected to isothermal oxidation in Ar/O2 and Ar/H2 atmosphere at 700?C as high temperature corrosion for 48h. Oxidation weight change measurement showed increasing Cr content reduced the oxidation rate.

Microstructural characteristics of the oxide scale formed on 304 stainless steel in oxygenated high temperature water

Some outmost spinels formed on top of other particles are depleted in Cr, while the hematite particles tightly embedded into the inner layer contain more Cr in the inner than in the outer part. The inner nano-sized oxide grow inwards directly from the bottom of outer particles.

This article focuses on the detailed microstructural investigation of the oxide scale formed on a 304 steel in the presence of oxygen and water vapour (40%) at 600?C. The work has been carried out using a combination of microanalytical techniques including FIB, TEM, EDX and electron diffraction.
