Preparation and oxidation protection of CVD SiC/a-BC/SiC coatings for 3D C/SiC composites

n amorphous boron carbide (a-BC) coating was prepared by LPCVD process from BCl3?CH4?H2?Ar system. XPS result showed that the boron concentration was 15.0at.%, and carbon was 82.0at.%. One third of boron was distributed to a bonding with carbon and 37.0at.% was dissolved in graphite lattice.

Kinetics and mechanisms of non-isothermal oxidation of graphite in air

The non-isothermal oxidation kinetics and mechanisms of the graphite in air was studied by TG and SEM. The oxidation rate increases rapidly with the increase of temperature before 30% weight loss, then turns to steady, and decreases sharply with the increase of temperature after 85% weight loss.

Formation of ZrC ablation protective coatings on carbon material by tungsten inert gas cladding technique

Stability of MnCr2O4 spinel and Cr2O3 in high temperature carbonaceous environments with varied oxygen partial pressures

In this investigation, Cr2O3 and MnCr2O4 were comparatively tested at 1050?C in carbonaceous environment with varied oxygen partial pressures. MnCr2O4 exhibits much better resistance to carbonaceous attack than Cr2O3.
