Effect of nickel ion from autoclave material on oxidation behaviour of 304 stainless steel in oxygenated high temperature water

? Oxides formed evolve from dominating hematite to spinel as immersion time extends. ? Oxides nucleate by solid-state reactions and then develop through precipitation. ? Ni2+ can stabilize NiFe2O4 and influence the oxidation behaviour of 304 SS notably.

Microstructural characteristics of the oxide scale formed on 304 stainless steel in oxygenated high temperature water

Some outmost spinels formed on top of other particles are depleted in Cr, while the hematite particles tightly embedded into the inner layer contain more Cr in the inner than in the outer part. The inner nano-sized oxide grow inwards directly from the bottom of outer particles.

Quantum chemical molecular dynamics study of stress corrosion cracking behavior for fcc Fe and Fe–Cr surfaces

Quantum chemical molecular dynamics simulation was applied to study the oxidation of bare Fe (111) and Fe?Cr (111) surfaces with strain in high temperature water. Simulation results implied the surface morphologies differ from Fe to Fe?Cr because of strong bond between oxygen and chromium atoms.
