A novel method for photodegradation of high-chroma dye wastewater via electrochemical pre-oxidation

new two-step process involving the electrocatalytic (EC) pre-oxidation and the following photoelectrocatalytic synergistic (PEC) oxidation is proposed to treat the high concentration and high-chroma methyl orange dye wastewater, which cannot be degraded by photocatalytic oxidation (PC) directly.

Photocatalytic generation of sulphate and hydroxyl radicals using zinc oxide under low-power UV to oxidise phenolic contaminants in wastewater

Three different oxidants viz peroxymonosulphate (PMS), peroxydisulphate (PDS) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) were employed to generate active sulphate/hydroxyl radicals for oxidation. The synergetic effect of combination of UV/oxidant/ZnO was investigated for the three different oxidant systems.

Production of electricity by photoelectrochemical oxidation of ethanol in a PhotoFuelCell

Investigation of the performance of TiO2 photocatalytic coatings

TiO2 photocatalysts were prepared and coated on surfaces. Ultrathin TiO2 coatings were obtained by wash-coating and screen-printing techniques. The latter provides films of excellent adhesion that could tolerate washing under water jet.

Preparation, characterization and activity evaluation of V2O5–LaVO4 composites under visible light irradiation

This article presents a novel visible-light-driven catalyst, an LaVO x composite that was prepared from La(NO3)3 and NH4VO3 solutions. The visible-light-induced photocatalytic activity of this composite was evaluated by the degradation of acetone.

Comparison of Direct Yellow 12 dye degradation efficiency using UV/semiconductor and UV/H2O2/semiconductor systems

The photocatalysts were TiO2, ZnO, Fe2O3 and SnO2. In addition, the effects of several cations (Cu2+, Al3+, Cr3+, and Sn4+) and anions (BiO3?, SO4 2?, and CN?) were examined in UV/TiO2 system. The results obtained showed that acidic pH is proper for the photocatalytic removal of Direct Yellow 12.
