Self-assembled monolayers of octadecanoic acid on indium arsenide

Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of octadecanoic acid (ODA) on oxidized InAs were prepared and characterized, and their stability in ambient, solvents and against heating was investigated. Results confirm the formation of densely packed, well-ordered monolayers.

The effect of gold on platinum oxidation in homogeneous Au–Pt electrocatalysts

Oxidation of Au?Pt thin films was carried out in ambient air at room temperature and characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The homogeneous films were prepared by RF co-sputtering with concentrations varying from Au9Pt91 to Au89Pt11 and compared to pure Pt and Au thin films.

The influence of treatment duration on multi-walled carbon nanotubes functionalized by H2SO4/HNO3 oxidation

? Decrease in crystallinity was from widening of XRD peak, followed by shifting towards lower angles. ? A defect peak in XPS C1s spectra was helpful for detecting the generation of defect sites. ? The oxidation mechanism of MWCNTs in mild H2SO4/HNO3 mixture was proposed.

XPS and SEM studies of oxide reduction of germanium nanowires

Single-crystal germanium nanowires (GeNWs) were grown by vapour?liquid?solid deposition onto silicon oxide substrates with Au catalyst nanoparticles. The GeNW surface and morphology were studied by means of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively.

Stability of hydrogen-terminated vicinal Si(111) surface under ambient atmosphere
