Oxidation of lysine by ferricyanide in presence of osmium(VIII)

AbstractOsmium(VIII) catalysed oxidation of lysine by ferricyanide in excess ferrocyanide shows a complex kinetics. The order in lysine falls, from 1 to 0 while that in ferricyanide increases from 0 to 2 with large increase in lysine concentration.

The solubility and plant uptake of chromium from heated soils

The effects of heating on the solubility and plant uptake of Cr from three soils variously influenced by ultramafic parent materials were evaluated. Chromium extracted by 2 M HNO3 and by M KCl increased with degree of serpentine influence and with temperature of ignition in air.

Effect of experimental hyperinsulinaemia on intracellular glucose metabolism of isolated adipocytes

1 to 20 mmol/l. Glucose incorporation into total triglycerides and fatty acids was also increased. These enhanced rates of glucose metabolism were due to increased activity of the glucose transport system in addition to increased activity of intracellular glucose metabolism.
