Effect of temperature on selected microbial activities in aerobic and anaerobically incubated sediment

ETS activity was always higher in the aerobically incubated sediment at all three incubation temperatures, whereas (C2H2 reduction was always greater in the anaerobic sediment. Carbon dioxide evolution was detected only in the aerobic sediment at 10 and 20 ° C but not at 4 ° C.

Low temperature preparation and characterization of intermetallics—Fe2W, FeMo and some ternary Fe-W-Mo systems

AbstractMonophase Fe2W and FeMo intermetallics have been prepared by hydrogen reduction of Fe2WO6 and FeMoO4 oxides respectively below 1050 K. The ternary intermetallics Fe2W0?9Mo0?1 and FeMo0?9W0?1 have also been prepared by a similar method from the respective substituted oxides.

Seasonal variations in the metabolic rates of zooplankton populations in a Thames Valley reservoir

Sign of the magnetic coupling of Fe2+ and Fe3+ in biotite

AbstractMössbauer spectra of biotite at 4 K are reported. The biotite crystals were oriented with the c-axis parallel to the -ray direction and some spectra were recorded with external magnetic fields of 40 kOe applied at right angles to the c-axis.

Measurement of thermophysical properties by a pulse-heating method: Niobium in the range 1000–2500 K
