The Caloric Stimulus: Temperature Generation Within the Temporal Bone

Temperature measurements were performed on isolated cadaveric temporal bones subjected to caloric irrigation of the external meatus. This was undertaken in an attempt to clarify the pathways of heat transfer involved in thermal stimulation of the temporal bone.

Effect of incubation temperature on the hatching of rotifer resting eggs collected from sediments

AbstractSediment samples from Loch Leven, Scotland, were incubated at 5°C, 10°C and 15°C to induce hatching of rotifer resting eggs. The emergent animals were identified and counted. The temperature which induced hatching varied among the nine species studied.

Patterns of recruitment and spawning in Hawaiian reef fishes

SynopsisRecruitment of juvenile fishes to five 25 m2 quadrats on an extensive natural reef in Kona, Hawaii was monitored over 51 months. Pronounced between-year variability in recruit abundance was evident for some species. Many exhibited strikingly low levels of recruitment.
