Understanding consumption-related sucralose emissions — A conceptual approach combining substance-flow analysis with sampling analysis

This paper explores the potential of combining substance-flow modelling with water and wastewater sampling to trace consumption-related substances emitted through the urban wastewater. The method is exemplified on sucralose.

Direct determination of trace cadmium in environmental samples by dynamic reaction cell inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry

Cadmium is subject to significant Zr and Mo based oxide/hydroxide interferences in ICP-MS analysis of environmental samples. In this work, a dynamic reaction cell (DRC) technology was used to eliminate these metal oxide/hydroxide interferences.

Headspace Solid-Phase Microextraction (HS-SPME) and Solid-Phase Extraction (SPE) Concentration for Quantification of Malodorous Substances in Piggery Wastewater

The validation results of both pre-concentrations revealed high selectivity and sensitivity. The detection of malodorous substances can provide clues to track the source of these contaminants.

Dose-response relationship, kinetics of formation, and persistence of S-[2-(N7-guanyl)-ethyl]glutathione-DNA adduct in livers of channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) exposed in vivo to ethylene dichloride

S-[2-(N7-guanyl)ethyl] glutathione adducts were detectable in liver tissue after 2 h of exposure and were still detectable three weeks after a single pulse exposure (detection limit = ~10 fmol, ~1 DNA adduct in 107 bases).

Application of a novel solid-phase-extraction sampler and ultra-performance liquid chromatography quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry for determination of pharmaceutical residues in surface sea water

In the present study, a multi-residue method based on a bag-solid phase extraction (bag-SPE) technique was evaluated for determination of 10 pharmaceuticals in surface water close to the effluent of a sewage treatment plant (STP) and along a coastal gradient from a STP effluent.
